History: 

Chasselois was founded on 2 August 1766 by colonists who had been recruited by LeRoy and Pictet. It was raided by the nomadic Kirghiz in 1774 and the colony was destroyed.  The surviving colonists were resettled to other colonies, mostly to neighboring Louis, Mariental, and Graf.

Today nothing remains of the former Volga German colony of Chasselois.

Church: 

The original of Chasselois were of the Roman Catholic faith. There was no known religious structure in the colony before it was destroyed.
