History: 

Denver, originally part of Kansas Territory, was founded in 1858.  Today, Denver is the capital of the State of Colorado and its largest city.  The city and country of Denver are one and the same, but what many consider to be "Denver" is also located in the surrounding counties of Adams, Arapahoe, and Jefferson.
