Daniel Maus, his wife, and stepdaughters immigrated to Russia from the German village of Niederzell. They arrived at the port of Oranienbaum from Lübeck on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love and Unity with skipper Thomas Fairfax at the helm. They arrived in the Volga German colony of Nieder-Monjou on 7 June 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 Census in Household No. 38.
