Johann Büge, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 29 June 1764. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18 as a widower along with his son Karl Johann (age 2-1/2).
The 1767 census records that Johann Büge came from the German village of Mitau in the Kurland region [today Latvia].
