Johann Christian Batz, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Reinhard on 15 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 12.

The 1767 census records that Johann Christian Batz came from the German village of Blankenhain in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
