Peter Dinkel, a farmer, and his wife Magdalena settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 143.

The 1767 census records that Peter Dinkel came from the German village of Eppenbrunn in the Kurpfalz region.

The 1798 census of Preuss (Ps20) records that widow Magdalena Dinkel is working in Kamenka.
