Discussion & Documentation:

Johann Christoph Erck, son of Weigand & Anna Katharina Erck, was born in 1693 in Nidda, Hessen, Germany. He married Anna Margaretha Runck. They have 3 known children: Anna Katharina (born 26 December 1721), Johann Wilhelm (born 23 October 1724), and Anna Margaretha (born 4 July 1727).

Christoph Erck and his two daughters and their families arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.

Daughter Anna Katharina married Johann Konrad Bär and their family settled in the Volga German colony of Yagodnaya Polyana. Christoph and daughter Anna Margaretha (who married Johann Heinrich Frick) settled in the Volga German colony of Frank. Christoph is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 77.

The surname Erck does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
