Discussion & Documentation:

Johannes Keier and his family immigrated to Russia. It appears that his daughter Elisabeth (age 13) is the only family member to settle in the Volga German colony of Norka on 2 September 1767. She is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 208 with the Ludwig Mertz family.

The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Keier and Mertz families.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this family, so the surname does not continue among the Volga German colonies.
