Widower Ludwig Kiebler, a farmer, and his children settled in the Volga German colony of Reinwald on 14 July 1766.

They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 22 along with his mother-in-law Katharina Higenbacher.

In 1795, Ludwig Kiebler and his family moved from Reinwald to Herzog.

The 1767 census records that Ludwig Kiebler came from the German village of Neuberg in the Württemberg region.
