Andreas Kossmann, a farmer, and his family immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) in 1761. They joined the migration to Russia and settled in the Volga German colony of Fischer on 28 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 7.

The 1798 census of Urbach records Gottlieb Kossmann from Fischer in Household No. Ur08.

The Eichhorns record that Andreas Kossmann was born in Poland, near the Brandenburg border, and immigrated from the village of Landsberg. The 1767 census records that Andreas Kossmann came from the Polish village of Filehne.
