Hans Georg Krebs, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Galka on 12 April 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 28.

The 1767 census records that Hans Georg Krebs came from the German village of Klitten in the Württemberg region. A researcher named Albert reports on the forum of wolgadeutsche.net that this Krebs family came originally from Knittlingen in Baden-Württemberg.
