Johann Philipp Kuhn, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Wiebe Heinrichson.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 10.
The 1767 census records that Johann Philipp Kuhn came from the German village of Hachenburg in the Kurpfalz.
