Johann Georg Meier, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Dobrinka on 15 April 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 47.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Meier came from the German village of Rostock in the Mecklenburg region.
