Sebastian Model, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Theresia, age 10; Michael, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard an English frigate under the command of Skipper Adam Beerfeier.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 59.

In 1795, Franz Model moved from Ober-Monjou to Wittmann.

The 1767 census records that Sebastian Model came from the German village of Nervgenstal [?] near Mergenthal.
