Heinrich Mossmann, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Volmer on 18 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.

In 1789, Peter Mossmann moved from Volmer to Schuck, and later to Degott.

The 1767 census records that Heinrich Mossmann came from the German village of Kusel in the Zweibrücken region.
