Discussion & Documentation:

There are 2 Rauch families that arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766:

(1) Johann Rauch, a farmer, and his family.

(2) Balthasar Rauch, a farmer, and his family.

Both families settled in the Volga German colony of Leitsinger on 19 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Households No. 38 & 40, respectively.

The 1767 census records that both Balthasar and Johann Rauch came from the German village of Sassanfahrt in the Bamberg district.

The Oranienbaum passenger list translation records this surname as Rau.
