Peter Schönberger, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Louis on 14 June 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32.

In 1788, Peter Schönberger and his family moved from Louis to Herzog. In 1792, Michael Schönberger moved from Herzog to Rohleder. In 1797, Jonas Schönberger moved from Herzog to Rohleder.

The 1767 census records that Peter Schönberger came from the German region of Saarbrücken.
