Johann Just settled in the Volga German colony of Dönhof on 18 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 87.

Where Johann Georg is recorded on the 1767 census is unknown, but he appears on the 1798 census of Stephan in Household No. Sp31.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that the Schönhals siblings came from the German region of Darmstadt.

Rudolf Schäfer records that this Schönhals family comes from the German village of Rainrod.
