Lorenz Schroh, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Volmer on 18 July 1766.  They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2.

In 1789, Lorenz Schroh moved from Volmer to Sewald.

The 1767 census records that Lorenz Schroh came from the German village of Kaiserslautern in the Kurpfalz region.
