He settled in the Volga German colony of Frank on 1 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 87 along with his new wife Anna Eleonora.

The 1767 census records that Simon Weiss came from the German village of Ditmolt [?] in the Hannover region.
