Joseph Westpfale, a weaver (Tuchweber), and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Johann Gottfried Seelender.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Dehler on 1 July 1767. Anna died on 20 October 1767.

Joseph Westpfale is recorded on the 1767 census of Dehler in Household No. 39.

The 1767 census records that Joseph Westpfale came from the German village of Metz in the region of Lothringen.
